In the past few years, statistics have continuously shown that over half a million Americans die of tobacco use every year. Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death and disease. The tobacco in the cigarette contains nicotine, which is a very addictive substance that makes smokers keep smoking. This is very deadly since it damages the body immediately and in the long run causes all sorts of health problems, yet many are still glued to smoking. In todayââ¬â¢s context, any form of smoking by any individual is nothing but dangerous for health. Smoking in all essences, slows the body down in the long run and one is not able to function at their best compared to a nonsmoker perhaps. In this day and age, we need to be at our best all the time in terms of productivity, optimum health cannot be achieved by tobacco use. Hence smoking is a silent killer. It is also a very important topic to discuss since many of youths are smoking and going on to smoke even stronger substances other than tobacco. At this rate, many deaths and diseases tend to occur. The reason being on selection of this topic is to be able to pinpoint the short and long term effects of tobacco use.
